Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge arriva nella cattedrale del gusto in piazza Duomo a Milano.

April 10, 2016

On the third floor of the new ‘cathedral of fine taste” in Piazza Duomo in Milan, Berlucchi threw open the doors to Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge, an elegant urban venue where guests can now taste the finest Franciacortas of the historical Borgonato maison paired with gastronomic jewels that highlight the aromatic qualities of Berlucchi ’61 Brut, Rosé and Satèn styles, the quintessence of finesse and refinement, and the complex personalities of Millesimato and Riserva Franciacortas.

An initiative with such illustrious partners as Autogrill and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, the Mercato del Duomo was a natural opportunity for Berlucchi, the pioneer of Franciacorta, Italy’s most celebrated classic-method wine.

At their ease in this lounge marked by an informal elegance, guests will have a wealth of choices among exceptional food pairings created to bring out the best in Berlucchi Franciacortas, or they may simply sample anything from the rich menu. The specialty food products, rigorously fresh, are on display in the salon, and the expert staff can recommend a Berlucchi wine that will make the most delicious partner with the guest’s individual culinary election.

The array of offerings ranges from salumi and sliced assortments to fresh fish–octopus and potatoes or salmon, and from mouth-watering vegetable dishes to nonpareil cheeses, both fresh and aged.

The Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge is the new prized venue for convivial encounters in Milan; comfortably ensconced in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, you will enjoy a privileged view out over the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, certainly a one-of-a-kind backdrop for lunch or dinner with your friends. A prestigious address, certainly, but the Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge welcomes the entire city–and its guests!–to savour its presentation of an area so rich in fine flavours, beauty, and culture.

But it presents still more. Its rich menu will be filled too with literary offerings, music and a rich feast for all the senses, since it is the stage for weekly programmes featuring musicians, cultural figures, and expert wine-tasters. A look at the Il Mercato del Duomo website will be a real revelation.

“The idea of opening the Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge in the Mercato del Duomo immediately appealed to us,” said Cristina Ziliani, Berlucchi Board Member for Communications, “both because of the calibre of those involved in the initiative as well as for its absolutely fascinating location. “The Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge affords us the unprecedented opportunity of showcasing the truly unique qualities of Franciacorta as an ideal partner with food, in this case taking full advantage of the experts of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo in selecting the specific foods that we are offering. This is the fruit of a felicitous relationship that we have enjoyed for some time now.”

“Fifty years ago,” she continued, “the dream of a young winemaker, my father Franco, actually changed the future of Franciacorta. Today we, the second generation, are directing the future of our winery. As such, we have become ambassadors on the world stage of the quality represented by Franciacorta wine, and we perform that same role in the Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge, accompanying our guests on multi-sensory adventures, helping them to discover for themselves a wine, a growing area, and a production method. There is literally no place like Berlucchi Franciacorta Lounge: it represents a wonderful opportunity for us and for all of Franciacorta.”

Chiara Camerini Porzi, Autogrill’s Marketing Manager for Italy, adds that “The Mercato del Duomo embodies the Autogrill’s new approach to the institution of the restaurant. This flagship venue, developed in collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences, allows Autogrill to strengthen its bond with this premier area, to showcase its oeno-gastronomic treasures, and to re-discover the centuries-old crafts and professions that have made the fine foods and wines of Italy celebrated across the globe. Autogrill has acquired enormous expertise in its operation world-wide, and we have focused that know-how on this project. We can thus state unequivocally that the Mercato del Duomo is the worthy representation of our philosophy, which focuses on the local area, its character, and its people.”
