Berlucchi played a fundamental role in first intuiting, then developing the superb aptitude of Franciacorta for sparkling wines, As far back as 1961, we produced the first 3,000 bottles of classic-method sparkling wine, assembling a cuvée we called “Pinot di Franciacorta.”

The concept of a cuvée is the blending together, in carefully-determined proportions, top-quality wines sourced from vineyards in exceptional growing areas, in order to create a better wine, one that exhibits the qualities of each of its component wines.

The “Berlucchi style” is the expression of the personality and talents of Franco Ziliani, of his son Arturo, and of the winemakers who create Cuvée Imperiale Berlucchi in its various versions: Brut, Vintage, Max Rosé, Pas Dosé, Brut Extrême, and Cellarius Millesimato.

The House of Borgonato has recently decided to take full advantage of its resources and experience to offer to those always desirous of the best a choice of two winemaking philosophies:

  • The classic Cuvée Imperiali, wines based on a skilful blend of wines with characteristics that are the hallmarks of Italy’s best sparkling-wine areas: Franciacorta, Oltrepò Pavese, and Trentino-Alto Adige.

  • Franciacorta DOCG, Cuvée storica, reflecting and accentuating the qualities and the typicity of the Franciacorta terroir, in whose very centre Berlucchi was born.
Wine lovers who wish to accompany a fine meal with a superb sparkling wine can thus select from Berlucchi’s range of labels a wine that best fits their tastes and that of their guests, perhaps even offering both philosophies together, the better to enjoy and compare the unique and inimitable qualities of each.
