| The vineyards of the wine estate Azienda Vinicola Caccia al Piano 1868 are located in prime viticultural areas, halfway between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci.
Merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc produce two highly-respected, firmly-built reds, Levia Gravia and Ruit Hora, plus two grappas, one released young and the other aged.
The three vineyards, Caccia al Piano, Le Grottine, and San Biagio, cover some 20 hectares and have an overall yield of about 100,000 bottles.
They are planted to high densities, 10,000 vines per hectare, with yields held to 4- to 6,000 kg/ha, a concentration considered ideal for producing wines of significant depth, on the model of Bordeaux. |
