There’s certainly no longer any doubt: Berlucchi ’61 Nature 2011 has seduced the most demanding palates both here in Italy as well as across the globe.

First came the ultra-coveted Tre Bicchieri award and the title of Best Sparkling Wine of the Year from the prestigious Gambero Rosso, followed by the tribute as The Best Italian Sparking Wine and the Best Franciacorta from the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships, and now the 2011 vintage of our ’61 Nature has enthused English wine critics as well.

Walter Speller, Italian correspondent for Jancis Robinson, universally regarded as one of the world’s finest wine writers and experts, bestowed on Nature 2011 the stellar score of 18/20 points and a very flattering review.

Here’s how Speller describes our Franciacorta: “Mid-straw colour with fine beads rising to the surface. Fresh, pure citrus and pear fruit on the nose. Great freshness and gorgeous lemony energy on the palate. Long lasting, fresh and–no other word for this–dynamic palate. Gorgeous, long, and gives champagne a run for its money. That is very rare in Franciacorta. Lots of potential.”

This year’s enthusiastic recognitions and Speller’s homage are a further motivation for continuing down the road we have chosen towards absolute quality.
