A gala evening yesterday at Rome’s Cavalieri Hilton celebrated the 30 years of activity of Gambero Rosso.
During the dinner, wine journalist Andrea Vianello and Gambero Rosso President Paolo Cuccia called to the podium the winners of the Premi del Trentennale (30 Year Prize), 36 pioneers and leaders, in 12 categories, all selected with the help of the most influential fine wine and food journalists.
Accepting the laurels for the Wine sector, in addition to Jermann and Incisa della Rocchetta of Sassicaia, was Franco Ziliani, President of Guido Berlucchi di Borgonato, the “Father of Franciacorta,” who created, in 1961, the very first classic-method sparkling wine in Franciacorta. Addressing the gathering along with his son Paolo, winery Vice-President, Ziliani stated that “This award affords me particular satisfaction since it recognises the standing of Franciacorta wines among Italy’s finest treasures, and is further proof of the dedication, expertise, and far-sightedness of Franciacorta producers.”
