NERLUCCHI '61 FRANCIACORTA ROSÉ: WINE SPECTATOR PLACES IT IN TOP 100 WINES OF 2021

November 23, 2021

Wine Spectator released today, as per established tradition during the Thanksgiving week, its eagerly-awaited annual list of TOP 100 WINES, and Guido Berlucchi Brut Rosé Franciacorta ’61 NV was that prestigious list’s sole Italian Classic Method sparkler.

In the words of Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator Senior Tasting Director, the Brut Rosé Franciacorta ’61 NV boasts “Allettanti profumi, sapori di frutta matura come fragola e lampone sono impostati sul perlage fine e vivace di questo rosé dal taglio netto ed invitante, fondato su una base gessosa”.

This enviable ranking is a further tribute to Berlucchi in the 60th anniversary year of pioneer Franco Ziliani’s creation of the very first bottle of Franciacorta in 1961, which made Guido Berlucchi the “founder” of an entire wine-producing area, Franciacorta. It is also a merited testament to the producer’s decades-long striving for ever-greater quality, which has made the winery a sector benchmark in the area of sustainable wine production.

That universally-recognized quality, embodied so superbly in Berlucchi’s line of wines, has meant that demand has been so high for Brut Rosé Franciacorta ’61 NV that it was out of stock as early as mid-November.

“We are both delighted and proud, particularly in this momentous year for us, to be the ambassadors of the enormous efforts of a great team of producers throughout this growing area,” stated Arturo Ziliani, Guido Berlucchi CEO. “In addition, this prestigious recognition solidifies Berlucchi’s position as a star in the international sparkling wine world, and it is an intense pleasure to be able to dedicate that recognition to our father Franco, precisely during the year of his 90th birthday!”
